How can everyone just rely on God?
I used to believe in "God". Maybe still do, but why is it that everytime there is some kind of problem, or if I am feeling depressed beyond all reason, people tell me to believe in "God", that he will save me somehow. How wonderful that would be, a divine power, solving my problems. Well I think it’s a load of crap. A mental placebo, put into place long ago to stop a rioting, revolting, mass of flesh, that we call man from going into complete and utter chaos. But traditions stick, beliefs stick, so now we are all in this urban wasteland cycle of going to school, getting a job, and trusting in the good Ol’ Lord, that someday, maybe someday, when we die, we can kiss his ass in person. He’s like Dr. Frankenstein. He created a monster, and he abandoned it. Whoever he is, he sucks, and is unreliable, at best. Also, I never understood how Christianity could be anymore valid than something like Greek Mythology. God did not create man. Man created God with his own mind.
I often feel as you do. Confused and hurt, by a God who was supposed to be there for me. I also agree with you that the bible is no more relevant than greek mythology, or even the eastern relgions. I still conteplate the existence of a God period, yet the fact that all these religions exist, might lead us to a God.

I do share the care belief you have that man created all deities rather than the other way around.
I would, however, say that I am happy for folks to seek comfort in religion if they want to as long as they don’t abuse others for not believing or take aggressive action in its name.
I honestly believe that the worst thing that happened to religion was organising it into doctrine and dogma … I would much rather folks made up their own minds and walked their own paths – wherever it leads them.

first of all i don’t want to sound rude, but i believe in God. to pray to God to solve all your problems does help. But it is you that has to solve them. God gives you guidance to find the ways out of hard problems of life. I rather believe in God while i’m on earth and find out later that it wasn’t true, than to deny him and die and find out he is the Truth

Interesting question you’ve got there. And also why there’s as many answers to it as there are people in this world. We all have the ability to make up our minds one way or the other, & having been raised a Christian I can understand where you’re coming from. I, too, wonder how certain things occur & how to do just as you’re asking, but I think that’s the beauty of it & what makes the world great (it also causes a lot of wars) because one sect tries to offput their ideas over onto the rest of us. I guess what I’m sayiing is why can’t we all just live & let live & accept each other for our own diversity?

Amen. I finally found my long lost twin. Unfortunately you went about it the long way. I have never believed in a caring, loving God that will give me everlasting life. You are right about the load of crap. The problem is, most people are so heavily brainwashed with it that they can’t see it any other way. I love reading posts by people asking evolutionists to prove why their theory is valid. It’s like these people have their heads stuck in sand, it would be funny if it wasn’t such a serious matter. But as long as they don’t bother me, I will let them think whatever they want.
Regarding God…there is no proof for, or against him. I am of scientific mind, but when you think about the universe, and the energy and matter contained within, and ask where that energy came from…was it always, or was it "created"? IMO, there may be a god, but it isn’t the god of the bible, it is something that created energy. Personally, I prefer follow the teachings of Tao. They have it going on.

That’s because you have not experienced God. God wants so badly to reveal Himself to you, and I bet he already did many times. Christians are windows for people to see Christ and have you ever wondered why Christians are so full of joy and peace no matter what hits them?
You have to open your heart to accept that God is real and He has tried hard to reveal Himself to you. The reason you seem not to feel or see or experience Him is because you have not opened your heart to Him while He’s already waiting for you standing at your door!
The reason Christians can go "Oh God is so greatly wonderful and real" is because they have experienced God as He has revealed so much to us and really poured out his blessings. You should start listening to testimonies of how the lives of Christians are so greatly full of blessings and miracles, then come back and tell us if man really created God in our own minds? How can those stories possibly be only from the minds of men?

We as human beings, had a beginning from our father ADAM. How he came into existance? God made him. Our reason of being into this world is to worship nobody except Allah.

God cannot come down and talk to each of us, that is y he sends prophets. My baby 2yrs & 8mths saw chirst and described him to me. This was after I prayed when she was frightfully shouting that a neighbour was putting her blood in her hand, asking her 2 spill it. "Jesus drove her (neighbour) away" my baby said."Is Jesus a man or woman?""Jesus is a king. He has thorns on his head ( she may see it as a crown)and blood is running down it" I was surprised.I dont have a picture of Jesus in my house. So 4 me, this is more proof that Jesus ressurected; which definately means that God is real.
Miracles are for unbelivers. U need to see miracles performed in different churches. This is not mythology.

i used to be very depressed about facts & felt very frustrated about how things were. i used to believe in god too. when i got depressed people told me not to lose faith in god. but more time went i begin to realise that the whole ‘religion’ thing is just some lousy crap.
but the question struck in my mind that why is all these & who created this silly stuff? and why does people believe all these shits? when i got myself involved with the communist activities i read a few books & found religions’ real source. so here it goes:
religion was created by the people at ancient times who were getting more powerful day-by-day. they realised that one day would come when general people would no longer remain silent about their miseries & the way they are treated. they will try to revolt. so the people in power tried to brain-wash the general people & created(or somewhat modified) the concept of god & religion. you can see in history in some regions of the world, the king was regarded as the god(specially in india & south america). the concept was also created that only a few persons(the chosen ones!) hold the power to connect god & they were called priests. we can still see this method in hinduism even today where ‘brhammans’ are chosen by-birth.
so here’s the main fact: religion was created as a weapon to make the poor suffer more, & in a way that they can’t do anything about it.
but spiritual concepts of some religion(buddhism, islam, etc) are acceptable. although i’m not a buddhist, i say that buddhism is the best spiritual religion, which always talks about peace, does not divide people in classes, and best of all- they doesn’t believe in a certain god. so it’s a way lot different than those crappy religions out there.
and why does people rely on fake religions & gods you ask? well….what would you expect those who walk around streets with eyes blindfolded? they fall on the big hole at their first step; & they don’t bother ’cause as they are blindfolded, they don’t even know that the street exists! so don’t be dumbass like that & try to act with your eyes open. don’t believe bullshits like "god is always with you" & "don’t lose faith in god; he has the power to take away anyone’s pain". and meanwhile try to read some books about the truth of religion so that if anyone tells you those shits again, you have some words to throw in their faces.
