Movies usually make suicide look painless!…?
Like somebody cutting their veins in a bathtub… but anyone who’s had even a paper-cut knows how much it hurts! lol
Then there’s the classic overdose scene: unhappy person takes too much painkiller and just passes out, off to find the light at the end of the tunnel. But wouldn’t ur stomach reject THAT much medicine? Ew, u’d probably barf, right?
Movies aren’t known for being ‘realistic’ but why do they still gloss over this disturbing type of death?
Btw, I get that a person who’s desperate to die probably wouldn’t care about the physical pain. My question is just about the unrealistic depiction in films.
They also show the hero getting shot in the chest, but he still has the strength to hold onto the edge of a building and swing back up and finally get the bad guy.
Then he takes out all the bad guys in the building on his way down.
All this without blood pulsing out. And at least fainting.
He makes it out where he still has time to kiss the girl before they take him away.
It don’t work like that.
When you are shot in the chest you go down, and you won’t be awake very long from blood loss.
But these gangstas think anything can be fixed. Guns are not toys.
Its the movies, that why they always say its just a movie.
Should be cartoon.

i do not like the way they make it look easy and painless. i think it can give depressed people ideas.

I thought this was a M.A.S.H. question.
The suicides where the dude grabs a gun and shoots himself in the head is pretty realistic in my experience.

It’s called acting and special effects makeup. The movies that don’t make it look painless are not mainstream, since they usually fall into the indie category.
Watching a movie is not going to cause someone to kill themselves any more than music or video games cause people to kill others. That argument has gone around and around for decades and in the end, people agree that the media is not to blame for the violence in society, no matter how much some folks insist that it should be.

Many movies do make suicide look like i painless endeavor however i don’t agree that by making the act look painless is going to give people ideas. if someone is depressed enough to even contemplate suicide then seeing someone do it in a movie or on television isn’t going to change their mind or encourage them any more. If a depressed person isn’t so depressed that they are suicidal seeing a suicide scene isn’t going to make them want to off themselves just like an emotionally stable person isn’t going to want to kill themselves or others based on what they see on television or film.

Leaving Las Vegas does not make it look painless…nicholas cage drinking himself to death in that movie is very disturbing.

That is why they are movies.
Just watch James bond movie, it is interesting and entertaining but it is not realistic and is not true, opposite side there will be lot of gun fires and bombings but he will not get hurt as single person he will kill so many, unbelievable and surprising if you just think about.
Also movie is for a short period of may be 2 hours, for your above question, cutting veins in a bathtub, of cosrse it is so panic before dying but cannot be shown in detail and even cannot be watched also, feel like running away from the premises ot close our eyes till the seen is over.
To be frank rape seens or having sex, still many of them like to & some cannot watch but these seens will not be shown publicly as every body know what happens and how it will be.
Previously Movies were ment to educate people as will make people aware of certian good and bad things as well discoveries etc…and at the end of the movie triy to make people understand what to follow and what not to do with the moral.
Now a days, movies have become business only commercial.
